One vote equals one voice. Having a voice in today’s society is a must. Abused women and children don’t necessarily have a voice. The underprivileged, the sick, our old age citizens, the gays, the immigrants are often invisible minorities. When you vote, you give a voice to our society. When you vote, you send a message about what you believe in. It shows that you CARE. Your vote, especially in Monday’s election, can make all the difference in the world. It can make the difference between a majority government and a minority government. Without your voice to say “This is what I want for MY community” others will decide for you. The issues are significant: education, health care, economy, job security, taxes, military defence, culture and moral issues like gay rights. They all concern YOU.
If you don’t know who to vote for or if you don’t think any political party is worth voting for, voice it and cancel your vote at the election bureau! That also sends a message!
I don’t want be moralistic here but voting is at the very core of democracy. When you think that in some countries, citizens have no say in their choice of leaders, it makes you wonder about the population’s true access to freedom… and we take ours for granted.
As I read in an article: do we HAVE to vote? No, we don’t but the idea is to “WANT” to vote because we care about the world we all live in. Say it loud and clear; do you agree or disagree with what the current government is doing?!
So, just do it! It's not as if you were required to cross the Sahara Desert without food or water! All you need to do is write an X on a piece of paper! How hard can that be?
VOTE and be heard!
