Letting Go of | The only true way to overcome resistance is through acceptance. “Acceptance is acknowledgment of what is. Acceptance is non-judgmental, not a matter of deeming something good or okay. Freedom from suffering requires accepting rather than resisting reality. Choosing to tolerate pain or distress in the moment is acceptance. Accepting rather than avoiding painful emotions actually alleviates suffering.”1 And you will be right; acceptance is easier said than done. But being in the moment and accepting that we are powerless to some of the changes around us will bring harmony to our entire being. The trick is to acknowledge that fine line between powerful and powerless. Isn’t there a prayer that refers to that idea? The serenity prayer (not that I’m a believer but this makes much sense to me!)!! … grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. Those are a few words that speak volume to me. I also believe that happiness comes with acceptance and harmony (body, heart and soul). It is a life-long journey but as it is often said, it’s not the destination that matters but the journey itself.
